0Meet Magic Mike
Magic Mike is a long, lithe and glossy cat - he is handsome and he knows it. In his foster home, Magic Mike is a perfect houseguest although he acts as if he owns the place and just lets his foster caregivers hang out there. Large and in charge, Magic Mike is also a very playful cat - he loves to climb and find a high spot from which to survey his domain. A wide variety of games appeal to him - he runs up and down the stairs dragging his cat wand, he can toss around his little mouse in a solo game of fetch for hours and he loves to play hide-and-seek with you, delighting when you find him in a favorite nook. He enjoys watching the crabs and fish swim around in the aquariums in his foster home. He is very skilled and can open cupboards, drawers and some doors. He explores every inch of his kingdom but he is very careful not to get into anything or knock anything over when he is in there. We believe he would make a great cat burglar. ;) Magic Mike has perfect litter box manners. Magic Mike's adoption fee is sponsored by a generous donor! Magic Mike has been diagnosed with crystalluria based on analysis of a urine sample. Due to this, it is recommended that he be fed a veterinary urinary die (i.e. Hill's c/d multicare, Royal Canin SO, Purina St/Ox). Feeding this prescription diet and encouraging increased water consumption will help to prevent him from having urinary blockage issues in the future. However, there is still the possibility that he could develop urinary blockage and require treatment by your veterinarian. Have you fallen in love? Ready to adopt? Get started at the following URL: https://valleyhumane.org/adoption/adoption-inquiry-form/ (copy and paste into your browser address bar). Once you have submitted your Inquiry Form, an adoption counselor will reach out via telephone to give you more information about the animal. Animals posted to the website are ready to go home with their forever family and applicants are typically called the same day as the Inquiry Form is received. If the animal is the right match for you, the adoption counselor will schedule an adoption appointment for you, your family and the animal at our facility in Pleasanton. Adoption appointments are typically scheduled within 24 hours of the phone interview; applicants should be ready to bring a new pet into their home. We do often receive multiple inquiries per animal; all applicants will be contacted by Valley Humane, if not by phone, then email. If you have questions on your application status, please call us at 925.426.8656. https://valleyhumane.org/adoption/
Adoption Process
Fees & Requirements
Are you ready for a new pet? Itâs a big commitment! At Valley Humane Society, our goal is to find a permanent home for each dog and cat in our care. VHS adoption counselors are available to assist you in choosing the right cat or dog for your family, but there are many questions to consider before adopting.
The Adoption Process
Animals that are available for adoption are posted on our website, AdoptAPet.com, and PetFinder.com.
Potential adopters should read the animalâs profile to determine if the pet would be a good fit and review steps on how to apply. Applications are specific to a single animal. Copy and paste the application URL from the animalâs profile.
Once the application is received by Valley Humane staff, an adoption counselor will call the applicant for a phone interview.
After you submit your application, be ready to answer the call from Valley Humane. Animals posted to the website are ready to go home. Adoption appointments are typically scheduled within 24-48 hours of approving an application.
Adoption appointments are scheduled at staggered times throughout the day to minimize social interaction between each visiting family.
Upon approval, you will be asked to complete additional paperwork. The Adoption Counselor will walk you through our Adoption Agreement. All documents and pertinent medical information will be copied for your files. We will also assemble a take-home packet which includes information on feeding your new pet, check that the animalsâ microchip is accurate, and prepare them for travel. Finally, you will be asked to provide the adoption fee. Please allow approximately one hour to complete the adoption process.
After a quick snap for our Facebook page (optional, of course!), youâre ready to head home to start enjoying life with your new friend
Additional Requirements
The following requirements apply to all adoptions; you must:
Be at least 21 years of age, or 18 years old with a co-adopter age 21+ years at the same residence.
Provide legal ID showing your current address to verify age.
Understand that VHS reserves the right to deny any adoption for any reason. While it is our goal to find a home for each and every animal in our care, it is also our responsibility to ensure that each animal finds a home that is not only safe and loving, but is right for their particular temperament.
