Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue

Founded in 2003 by Lana Bajsel, Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue (a registered 501(C)3 non-profit organization), has worked tirelessly within the San Francisco community to help stop the overpopulation of abandoned and unwanted adult and senior cats.As a small group of dedicated volunteers, we try to save as many feline lives as we can. We provide behavioral and medical intervention, unconditional love and a safe haven while we seek new forever homes for our feline friends. As many of you know, the odds are stacked against older cats that are placed in local shelters. Here in San Francisco, most adult cats are at risk of being euthanized, whether it is due to their age, easily treatable medical conditions, or due to the stress of being placed in a shelter. We believe that adult and senior cats, with their typically calm personalities, can make the best of family pets. Our mission is to rescue these cats and find them loving, permanent homes through fostering and active adoption strategies.

Meet Sabi

Hi! My name is Sabi! I was rescued in Tracy, CA, after being dumped outside. At only 8.5lbs, I am a petite boy. I have the prettiest blue eyes. And I'm probably the whitest flame point siamese cat you'll ever meet - my siamese colors have barely grown in. My fosters think I'm so adorable and they can't believe I'm not a kitten!   My personality is confident, friendly, and playful. I don't need a lot of time to decompress, and I love exploring and checking things out, which helped me settle in fairly quickly when I arrived in foster. The new furiend I made in foster also helped me out. I love making friends with other cats! I am very easy-going and accepting of other cats. Once we get to know each other, I will even walk up to them, gently bump my head into them to let them know we're friends, and help them groom their butts!    I am a big purr machine with humans. Once you lay your hand on me and give me a few scritches, I'll relax and ignite my purr motor. I like to plop down next to you and I've also mastered the "elevator butt."    I am playful and energetic! I will never say no to a play session when the feather wand toy starts flying. I also like to kick little balls around and play soccer. After playing, I like to relax in my cat tree house or on a scratchboard lounge.    I am so cute and I have a great personality. I can be your only fur baby or be a sweet furiend to your cat who's looking for some feline companionship. I'd love to go home with you!   Follow me at my foster's Instagram @dj_capy_ and at my temporary foster home @purrfect_purrminators Please note:Indoor only For more information & an online application go to https://www.givemesheltersf.org/adoption/cat.php?id=12250&ts=1743562955&src=rg

Adoption Process
All of our adopters are required to fill out an online application. Once we review the application, we contact the applicant to do a phone interview, and a zoom call to meet and learn more about the cat with the foster parent to determine if it's a good fit for everyone. Then the potential adopter can meet the cat in person and take them home if approved through this process. We have them sign an adoption agreement and pay $150 adoption fee.
