Island Cat Resources and Adoption

Island Cat Resources & Adoption (ICRA) is an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit humane organization in the Alameda-Oakland area dedicated to reducing the suffering of the mistreated, abandoned, and feral (wild) cat populations and to educating and empowering the local community to aid in their plight.Since its establishment in 1994, ICRA has found homes for over 2,500 cats through our adoption program, spayed or neutered over 11,300, and assisted in getting many hundreds more off the streets and into "no kill" community shelters.ICRA is a small group with limited resources. We owe our accomplishments solely to the hard work and compassion of a dedicated corps of volunteers and supporters who share a passionate concern for the health and welfare of the overwhelmingly large population of abused and unwanted cats in our community.

Meet Aurora

Meet Aurora, a sweet and very affectionate cat who is ready to bring joy to a loving home. Aurora is a gentle girl, with a non-stop purr. Her goal in life is to get as many pets from her human friends as she can get. She does love attention. And she has never met a lap she does not like. She quite possibly invented the term lap cat, but if a lap is not available, she will cuddle up happily by your side. Aurora is a beautiful cat. Her fur is medium length and very soft. Mostly white, she has a uniquely marked face, almost as if she made a mistake putting her eye make-up on. Her tail is dark but tipped in white. Most stunning of all are her blue eyes! Aurora is learning to play with toys, but will need her new family to help her build up her playing skills. She occasionally can get over-stimulated with too much attention, and she is sensitive to loud noises. While she can be independent too, she does prefer being a part of the group plans. She enjoys tuna as a treat. Aurora would love a cat tree from which to view her world. She would thrive in a calm household with a family that is looking for a furry friend to brighten their days. It is unknown how she would get along with cats or dogs. We estimate she was born in June of 2023. If you're interested in adopting Aurora, or another of our cats, please fill out our adoption questionnaire at icraeastbay.org/adopt/how-to/.

Adoption Process
Potential adopters pick out a cat or kitten and fill out an application. There will be a short interview with one of our volunteers. Adoptions do not happen same day. We will arrange a time to visit your home and the foster parents and a volunteer will meet there. Our adoption fee structure is: Cats and kittens (under 8 years): $100 Cats (over 8 years): $75 Two cats adopted together: Full amount of the higher fee, half the amount of the lower or same fee. For example: a kitten and a cat (under 8) would be $100.00 + 50.00 = $150.00 We require that all cats be kept indoor only. We have an adoption contract.
