Meet Okie
Meet Okie – A Survivor Looking for His Forever HomeOkie, short for Okie Dokie, has an incredible rescue story that started at a gas station outside Oklahoma City. A friendly, ear-tipped cat in a feral colony caught the attention of his caregiver, who wished for a better life for him. That’s when fate stepped in—I met her while getting gas, and when I heard about Okie, I knew I could find him the perfect home in Colorado. She managed to catch him, and together we began his journey to a brighter future.Once in Colorado, Okie was seen by a vet, where it was discovered he was a young cat, only 1-2 years old, but facing major medical challenges. He tested positive for FIV and suffered from a severe case of stomatitis. To give him the best chance at a pain-free life, all his teeth were removed that same day. Now, almost a year later, Okie is still recovering and requires daily medication to manage his symptoms. The vet believes he may need this for another year or two, but he is expected to heal with time.Okie deserves a forever home where he can continue his journey with loving humans who will help him complete his rescue story. What Okie Loves:Wet Food: Since he has no teeth, he prefers soft wet food.Churu Treats: He loves Churu and will stand up like a little gopher to get his favorite treat—this is also how he takes his daily medication.Pets & Affection: While not a lap cat (yet?), Okie adores being petted and will hop up to meet your hand with his head—it’s ridiculously cute.Other Cats: He enjoys feline companionship and would likely do best in a home with another cat friend, though he’s not bonded with any particular cat in his foster home.Other Things to Know About Okie:He ignores the small dog in his foster home and would likely be fine with a calm dog that also ignores him. He’s not a high-energy kitten but enjoys playing with a wand toy occasionally.Due to his time in the feral colony, he can still be a little skittish and needs understanding adopters willing to let him take life at his own pace.A quiet home with calm, older children would likely be fine, but he hasn’t been around kids in his foster home.Okie is looking for a patient, loving adopter who will help him complete his transformation from a gas station stray to a beloved companion. If you’re ready to give this special boy the forever home he deserves, please reach out!
