Ellas Feline Rescue Mission

Ellas Feline Rescue Mission is a No-Kill rescue devoted to the welfare of cats in the Greater Springfield area. Our mission is to give homeless cats the love and care they deserve, through appropriate vet care, rehabilitation where needed, and finding loving Forever Homes that are committed to meeting the needs of a particular cat for the duration of its life.We are particularly committed to helping the most vulnerable cats, those whose medical or behavioral needs would lead to euthanasia or dying a painful death if abandoned. We also have a strong commitment to preventing further homelessness and abandonment, through helping pet owners access spay/neuter services and community vet care, providing behavioral support to pet owners who are struggling with challenging behavior, and making the surrender process as easy as possible.EFRM was started by a husband-and-wife team who is passionate about animal welfare. We have been involved in animal rescue, both individually and together, for nearly 20 years. We decided to take our rescue work a step further and begin our own mission in response to the overwhelming number of homeless cats that have come through our property alone. We were inspired to take action primarily by our adopted cat, Eden, whose life we literally saved when she showed up on our porch in deplorable condition. An underlying medical condition led to skin problems, digestive problems, and severe inflammation of the mouth and she had been in constant pain after being abandoned to a life outside. With proper vet care, a lot of patience and affection, and a safe place to live, she has blossomed into a healthy, playful, affectionate cat.Eden’s story is sadly not unique. Many cats are abandoned to painful and fearful lives on the streets. We are committed to meeting the unique needs of every cat we are able to care for. We value individual lives and are committed to a No-Kill mission. Our name is in honor of our beloved cat, Ella, who passed away on December 2, 2021.

Meet Cali

Cali is a beautiful 5-year-old tortoiseshell who has been through some significant changes lately and would love a Forever Home. She is very sweet. She is affectionate and loves to be pet, though it takes her a few days to warm up. She will do best in a quiet home with no other pets, though she will probably be okay with calm cats and dogs. She is the perfect cat for someone who wants a cat companion to snuggle with while watching tv or reading in the evenings.

Adoption Process
The adoption process involves a completed adoption application, followed by a phone call to determine which cat or cats would be a good fit for the potential adopter. Once all parties feel a good fit is lined up, potential adopters meet the cat or cats . At that point, the adoption can be completed. Fees vary based on age and health status. Kittens under 6 months are $300 ($550 for a pair); Cats from 6 months to 4 years: $250; 4-8 years: $200; 8-12 years: $100- $150, depending on age and overall health; over 12 years: $0-$100, depending on age and health needs. We offer discounts for cats with special needs.
