The Humane Society of McCormick County, Inc.

The Humane Society of McCormick County is a no-kill animal rescue. We pick up homeless cats and dogs in McCormick County and help them find loving homes. We offer low-cost spay and neuter to any cat or dog in the County and we a have a progressive trap - neuter or spay -and return (TNR) program and we monitor and feed several community cat colonies every day. We are 100% funded by private donations, grants and money raised through fundraising activities. All money raised goes to helping animals because we are all volunteers. The county does not have a city or county-run shelter. We are all our county has for help with homeless cats and dogs. We care for the dogs and cats that would otherwise have no other place to go.

Meet Hobo

Meet Hobo!  She is a beautiful dilute calico tabby with green eyes.  You will notice that her eyes appear partially shut.  Hobo has Entropion and she has an appointment with an eye specialist in February to determine if the situation can be resolved or improved.  The Humane Society will take care of this medical issue if it can be helped in any way. This situation doesn’t stop Hobo from being a playful loving kitty.  She will run to greet her human friends and give you affection with her rubs.  Hobo enjoys being petted and playing with her toys.   She gets along with other felines and enjoys a sunny spot for nap time.  Hobo is looking for an indoor home with a family she could love and toys.  She is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and has a birthdate of  8/21/2024.  If you are looking for a gentle family cat or companion cat, Hobo would be the purrfect choice!

Adoption Process
Our adoption process starts with an interview. We want to know what type of cat or dog they are looking for, their lifestyle, and their expectations. Then we set up a meet and greet either at the shelter, a pet store, or at their home. Then they fill out an adoption contract. We offer and encourage potential adopters to take the dog or cat home on foster-to-adopt for a few weeks before finalizing the adoption. Our adoption fee is $65 for cats and $125 for dogs which included spay or neuter and vaccinations and for dogs, it includes a microchip. Cats can be microchipped upon request.
