Pippi's Place Pet Rescue

Pippi’s Place Pet Rescue is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted cats and kittens through the support of local Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs as well as placement of available felines in permanent homes. We will rescue animals who are homeless due to owner surrender, endangered due to abandonment/neglect/abuse, and those at risk of being euthanized at area shelters. We will place feline companions in loving homes following a comprehensive screening process which includes ensuring a good match between the animal and prospective adopter as well as educating potential adopters about the responsibilities associated with bringing a cat into their home. All cats and kittens will be spayed or neutered, receive appropriate veterinary care including any necessary treatment, and will be placed in caring foster homes until the time of adoption. We will work closely with local shelters and other rescue organizations to promote the importance of spaying/neutering companion animals. We will work with these agencies to develop a network of supporters and volunteers so that we may create a better world for homeless animals.

Meet Maverick

Date of Birth: 2/2/19Adoption Fee: $100.00Date Posted: 3/17/25Hi! My name is Maverick. You might look at me and think I am just a plain, black kitty without a striking fur coat or captivating personality. Well, those who know me are absolutely certain that the direct opposite is true! I am an incredibly handsome gentle giant who will be the best buddy any human could ever wish for. I may appear standoffish when I first meet you but pet me once and I turn into mush! I am a calm, easygoing guy who contentedly lounges in the sun or entertains myself watching the birds as they fly by. I am always thrilled to spend time with my humans. Scratch behind my ears or on the side of my face and I will press my head into your hand to let you know I enjoy our time together. I have learned to adapt to changes in life. I used to live in a home with two humans and five other cats. My humans grew old and passed away leaving all of us behind. The neighbors came over every day to take care of me and my feline friends. They were very kind and found rescues for each of us so that we could find a new home. I checked things out for a few days when I first came into my foster home. My foster mom just let me hang out and talked softly to me as she spent time with us in our room. Within a few days, I was coming down from my safe spot to receive attention like the others. My foster mom has told me that she would like to keep me but her job is to help me get ready for my forever home where I will be loved for always. That sounds really nice. Please come meet me soon?

Adoption Process
Potential adopters are required to complete a detailed online application. Application screeners are trained to follow specific procedures when reviewing submitted applications. Adoption agreements are completed following approval of the application. Volunteers follow up with adopters to ensure that both people and pets are adjusting well as a family. Currently, adoption fees are $35 as Pippi's Place is partnering with Barrow County Animal Control to foster animals and facilitate adoptions. Pippi's Place will continue to partner with animal control facilities to support their TNR work through adoptions but will also eventually begin intake of its own rescues. At that point in time, adoption fees will increase to $100 for adults and $125 for kittens to help to cover expenses when the cost of spay/neuter, medication, etc. is no longer subsidized through the partnership with the animal control facility.
