Meet Red

Red Red - Domestic Short Hair, Born May 2019, Orange, Neutered Male Hello, I'm Red!  I'm a handsome, enigmatic, orange kitty with a few quirks. I'm a stoic, polite, and well-mannered cat, who is aloof.  I'm looking for a warm bed, someone to feed me and play with me, on my terms, and then watch a little TV.  Let's talk about playtime. I LOVE playing and become a wild and gangly kitten when engaged.  All toys are my favorite, but I really love a simple string wand to hunt and pounce or bouncy balls. I'm also a bit partial to catnip, but what cat isn't?  Anyone who knows me, will understand to keep an eye on me and watch for signs that I might be stressed.  Because, when I'm stressed, I might give you a swat. Thankfully, I’m less and less stressed these days. One other thing you should know about me, I’m not a fan of pets, but I do enjoy being around people and following them around.  One of my favorite games is taking your warm spot on the couch if you get up to leave for a brief minute.  When you return, you'll have to find a new seat, which I'll take if you leave again.  It's a lot of fun! I'm looking for a home with an experienced adopter that has another cat(s) to keep me company. I was part of a rescue with 30+ starving sick cats, and many of those cats have found homes. After I was rescued, some amazing kind and patient souls found a shelter for me and three other cats in a chicken coop for a few months over the summer.  The chickens were fun to watch, and it’s also how I got my name. I was named “Rhode Island Red”, after the breed of chickens living next to us, but everyone calls me Red.  Since the coop, I’ve moved around a bit, but I know that there is someone who will accept me as I am and allow me to become my best self.  Red is to be adopted into a home with other cats.  He is on a prescription diet and has mild asthma that requires regular medication. He's good at taking his medication in a treat. This cat is microchipped, spayed, and has had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. Adoption Process
Our adoption process has evolved from many years of experience. The goal of our adoption counselors is to make a good match between animal and family. We get to know each cat or dog's unique personality and different needs. If a specific dog, for example, has large amounts of energy and needs lots of space to run, it is unlikely that he would meet the needs of a person who works long hours and would be unable to exercise the dog. It would be a mismatch that would be bad for dog and human alike. Our adoption counselors look forward to working with you to help you find the right pet for your home.
