Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue

Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue was founded in 2015 by a small group of animal lovers. Years of rescue showed us that the senior demographic in shelters is often the most overlooked and highly euthanized. These animals are discarded because of failing health, new pets in the family, a lack of time for attention and care, and countless other reasons which Good Old Tails finds deplorable. Pets are a commitment for life, not until they are an inconvenience. We are dedicated to saving as many senior dogs and cats as we can, and providing them with love and care so that they can live out the rest of their days with dignity and happiness. Some of these animals may never leave our rescue, and their foster families will be the ones to say the last good-bye. Others will go on to find families of their own. Whatever the outcome, we have made the promise to them that they will never again be alone.

Meet Princess

NAME: Princess BREED: DSH BIRTHDAY: 2013 ADOPTION FEE: $75   It's a story that we hear all too often: an elderly pet owner passes away, and there's no one, not friends or family, to take in their beloved pets. Princess had a home and a mom who loved her, but when she lost all of that there was no one who could keep her and her brother safe. Things don't always work out for pets like this, but help came for Princess and her brother. Our quarantine space went to Princess, and our friends at Sam's Beasties took Shadow (we would have loved to keep this pair together, but Shadow is diabetic and our foster mom's schedule doesn't allow for regular insulin injections).   In foster care, Princess has lived up to her name! She is very sweet and affectionate, and loves to be held and cuddled. We took her to an adoption event at a busy restaurant- she barely spent any time in her crate, as everyone wanted to hold and pet her. She even snuck over to the bar and spent a few hours with some other pretty girls (no, she was not allowed in the kitchen!) Princess is overwhelmed by all of the animals here, but she does seem to do ok with other cats and dogs as long as they're not too obnoxiously in her space. She hasn't been eating well (Fancy Feast gravy lovers is all we can get into her), but she will have some dental work in March and we're hoping for improvement after she's healed from that. All she really wants is what she lost: a quiet home, a lap to curl up on, and someone who will love her forever. Good Old Tails will cover BOTH adoption fees if someone is willing to adopt both Princess and her brother Shadow.
