Hi, I’m Dixie! I’m the little one in the group—smaller than my sisters, but I’ve got a big heart and a lot of love to give! I’m a darker tabby with beautiful stripes and a soft, sweet personality. My brother Coop is the only boy in the crew, and I have three awesome sisters—Chickira (she’s a tortie, very gentle and sweet), Peeps (she’s the one with more white fur and always sneaking around), and Dumplin (she’s black and white, and she’s the queen of cuddles). We all came to our human on October 28th, after being rescued from a chicken coop, which is how we all got our chicken-themed names! I think Dixie is a perfect fit for me—I’m sweet, quiet, and always ready to play or curl up for a nap with my siblings. When we’re not running around chasing toys or leaping over furniture, we’re snuggling up together. I love to curl up next to my human or on top of my sisters for a cozy nap. We all come running when we hear our human’s voice or when it’s time for our wet food! We’re total purr machines and love to show our affection. We’re also very good with the litter box—no accidents here! We get along really well with the resident cat at our foster home. He’s calm and friendly, and we like being around him, though we mostly keep our distance. The two golden retrievers, on the other hand, are a little scary! We’re still getting used to them, but we’re getting braver every day. Sometimes we sneak up to them for a sniff, and who knows? Maybe soon we’ll be snuggling up with them too. I’m a very social kitten, and I think I’d be happiest in a home with another kitten or playful cat. I love being with my siblings, and we’d all do best in a home where we can continue to be together or have other furry friends to keep us company. We’ve been through a lot together, and I’m sure we’d get pretty lonely without each other. I’m located in Clear Lake, and I usually meet people at the PetSmart in Monticello for exchanges. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, and affectionate kitten who loves cuddling and playing, then I might just be the one for you! Let me know if you’d like to see more pictures of me and my sisters—I’ve got plenty to share! Purrs and kitten kisses, Dixie Dixie is from a stray surrender with 4 siblings. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
