Adoption Fees
325.00Mimi's approximate date of birth is December 30, 2023. She is spayed and vaccinated. She tested negative for FIV/Felv. Her adoption fee is $325.00 + tax. Meet Mimi! Mimi is a one-year-old tortoiseshell sweetheart with just the right mix of affection, independence, and a little bit of sass. She loves attention and will happily rub, roll, and soak up all the pets—but only in the approved Mimi Zones! (Top of the head? Maybe not until you earn her trust. Chin scritches and back rubs? Yes, please!). Mimi will do best with a patient family who understands that she will need time to settle in before showing her true, affectionate self. A quiet, child-free home where she can relax and adjust at her own pace with a loving human who respects that she’s not a fan of being picked up yet, is required. She does love pets and will rub on her people once she feels safe. Don't underestimate this little girl with her play skills, she is a master of the wand toy and loves to catch her toy in mid air! Mimi has lived with her littermates before, so she might be okay with another cat, but she’ll need time to decide if she wants a new feline roommate. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, and independent companion who just needs a little patience to bloom, Mimi is ready to find her perfect home! Apply today to let Mimi settle into your heart (on her own schedule, of course! *If you would be interested in meeting a Saving Tails Animal Rescue pet or being considered for an adoption, please complete an adoption application at savingtails.org. Saving Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) is a 501(c)3 registered no-kill, non profit animal rescue. All animals are placed in loving foster homes until their forever family finds them. Because there is not a physical shelter location, foster homes are needed to help rescue local animals who are in danger of euthanasia. If you would be interested in fostering an animal in need, please complete a foster application at savingtails.org.
Adoption Process
Adoption Application- Individuals interested in adopting a Saving Tails Animal Rescue animal can view all available animals on the STAR website. When they find an animal that they may be interested in meeting they will then complete an adoption application. This will then start the process of a potential adoption. It does not âbindâ an applicant to the specified animal that they complete the application for, it merely is a request to meet an available STAR animal.
Application Review- All Applications are thoroughly reviewed. If the applicant may be the right match for the animal, it will be forwarded to the foster caregiver for review. If the foster caregiver feels that their foster animal would be a good fit for the potential adopter; he or she will contact the applicant to answer questions about the animal and make arrangements for a meet and greet.
Please understand that it is very important to find the right match for both the animal and the adopter. An application that is not approved for a certain animal does not necessarily mean that the adopter would not make a great pet guardian; it merely means that the adoption may not have been the right match.
Approval to go Forward with a Meet and Greet- Meet and greets are scheduled with the foster caregiver and the potential adopter. These can be done at any convenient location for the foster caregiver. Adoption events would be the preferred location, but often time they are done at the caregiverâs home, the potential adopterâs home, or an animal friendly business.
Home Visit- If after the meet and greet, the animal is determined to be the right match for the adopter, the adoption will then be listed as âpendingâ. A home visit will then be completed by a STAR volunteer. This is a home visit to determine if the home is a safe place for the animal. If a dog requires a fenced in yard, this will also be thoroughly checked at this time.
Finalize Adoption- After the home visit is approved, the adoption can then be finalized. There will be an adoption contract to fill out and the adoption fee to make payment for. Arrangements can then be made with the foster caregiver to pick up the new family member!
