Meet Clancy (FIV+)

Hi everybody! My name is Clancy, and I am a very happy 3.5-year-old kitty. First things first - I am FIV+. I know that this is where a lot of people will stop reading about me, but I hope you won't. I have so much to give, and FIV doesn't hold me back in the slightest. FIV really isn't as scary as it sounds. It doesn't mean I am a sickly cat, nor does it mean that I'm highly contageous. In fact, cats with FIV commonly have average lifespans, and because FIV is spread only through deep bite wounds, FIV positive cats are able to live with FIV negative cats in stable social environments! That being said, I live a very full and happy life. I am currently living with five other non-FIV cats and am doing great. So, please don’t write me off just because of the FIV. I promise that FIV doesn't define me, and I hope you won't let it either. P.S. - My foster mom would be glad to talk to you about FIV if you have more questions. Just ask!The last several months have been hard for me. I used to have a family, but then, for reasons I don’t understand, I was dumped in a trailer park. I was alone and scared, so I tried to join a feral cat colony to survive. It was hard and I didn’t really fit in, because alas I was not feral. One day, I was trapped along with some of the other cats in the colony. Since the shelter people thought I was feral, I was neutered and was set to be released back into the colony. When the time came, I refused to leave the crate. I did not want to return to being cold, hungry, and unloved. I wanted a family again. I came into foster care just before Christmas. It was nice to be warm, and loved, and to get some treats under the tree from Santa. But what I really want in 2025 is a forever home and a family to call my own. It will take me a little while to warm up (I can be a little skittish at first), but once I do, I will be a great friend. I love to snooze on my blanket and yes, I will require loads of pets and ear scritches. I also like having my face stroked.I get along very well with other friendly cats. I tend to ignore meanies or bossy cats, a skill I learned from the time I spent outside. I am new to dogs, but after a few sniffs, I am good with well-behaved and calm canines. I am also really good with respectful kids. I love to play with my catnip bananas, and I also love treats (especially Churus)! I am up to date on all my vetting needs, and I use the litterbox like a champ. If you are looking for a sweet guy to be your buddy, I would love to meet you! Thanks so much for reading about me.Love, ClancyInterested in adopting or learning more about this cat?
