Meet Jeffrey
Meet Jeffrey - a sleek and handsome mini house panther with a lot of love to give. He was transferred to us from another rescue group to give him more exposure to a broader adopter audience. He was initially frightened and scared being in a new foster home situation, but has really blossomed over the couple of months. He's not aggressive and doesn't have a mean bone in his body; he just lacks confidence at times and prefers to hide when he's feeling overwhelmed. He's gentle and sweet and will make a wonderful companion for someone once he has time to acclimate and feel safe and secure. Now that's he's comfortable in his foster home, Jeffrey has become quite the mellow love bug and enjoys petting and attention. He will need a calm and quiet home without kids, but I think he will thrive with someone who will give him time to settle in and understands that he may need space when he's feeling shy.Jeffrey is FIV+ but it's not as scary as it sounds. It just means his immune system may not be as strong as other cats, but with proper care and diet, he should live a very long and happy life. He does not require any medication, although he may require more frequent dental cleanings than the average cat. FIV is kind of similar to HIV in humans, but it's only transmitted to other cats and only through a deep bite wound or in utero from mom to babies. Fortunately, he's a lover and not a fighter and does great with other kitties, including those without FIV. He would love to have a feline friend who can help him feel confident and secure and must not be an only kitty in his adoptive home. He is BFF's with another FIV+ cat, Vinny, and they can usually be found snuggling together. Vinny should be available for adoption this fall once he completes treatment for another ailment. Jeffrey is a wonderful kitty with many great qualities and is very mild mannered. He would make an excellent companion for a single person or a couple and just needs an opportunity to blossom and shine, but we promise he will win you over with his sweet disposition.
Adoption Process
the first step in our process is an
application. The questions on the application are designed to
determine if the pet would be a good fit in this home. We contact the
applicants veterinarian to verify they have a good history of
previous (or current) pet care. We meet the applicant at Petsmart or
at their home to allow them to interact with the pet they are
interested in adopting. If all goes well the adoption is finalized.
We have an adoption contract, requiring regular vet care, indoor
homes, return to us if it doesnt work out, etc. Our dog adoption fee
is $175, cats range from $80 for older cats to $125 for kittens
