Meet Smarty

17 years old.   Meet Galaxy, Smarty, and Zorra – Three Golden Girls in Need of a Second Chance These three senior beauties have spent most of their lives in the safety of an office after being rescued from the streets years ago. A kind-hearted construction company owner took them in, giving them a warm place to call home. Sadly, he lost his battle with cancer at the end of 2024, and with his company being sold, Galaxy (14), Smarty (17), and Zorra (12) suddenly found themselves with nowhere to go. His dedicated staff reached out for help, and we couldn’t say no. Now, these shy but sweet ladies are adjusting to shelter life, but what they truly need is a quiet, loving home where they can feel safe again. They are used to people in a calm environment, and while they may take time to trust, they deserve love in their golden years. It would take a true angel to adopt all three, but perhaps there’s someone out there willing to open their heart to one or more of these special girls. If you can help Galaxy, Smarty, or Zorra find the comfort they once knew, please reach out. They’ve lost everything, but with your love, they can find hope again. 

Adoption Process
Adoption Fees: Dogs $100.00 Cats $45.00 Puppies $75 plus $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit Kittens $30 plus $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit Rabbits $35 Adoption Process Our friendly, knowledgable team of staff and volunteers would be glad to give you a tour of the shelter and discuss whether one of our furry friends is the right match for your home. The JSAC has careful policies on the placement of young animals, dominant breed dogs (Rottweilers, Shepherds, Akitas, etc) and we give preference to homes in the Eastern PA, New Jersey, Southern New York and Northern Delaware region (please note: we do not ship animals). We prefer homes in the region so that we can be a resource for the animals and their adopters. These policies and procedures are in place to protect everyone involved and are very common when rehoming animals, whether through a shelter or a rescue group. We do not have "same day" adoptions. Rather, an application for an animal is reviewed to ensure that 1) the home has taken good care of their other animals * 2) The animal is permitted in the home and 3) that it is the right home for the right animal (choosing dog that likes cats if cats already in household, etc..). Typically this process takes 24-48 hours. If a dog application is approved and there are other dogs in the home, we have the two (or more) dogs meet; many times if necessary.
