Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society

PAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. PAWS is Philadelphia's largest no-kill shelter and is working to make Philadelphia a city in which every healthy and treatable pet is guaranteed a home. Through its adoption locations, special events, and foster care network, PAWS finds loving homes for thousands of animals each year.In March 2010, PAWS opened a low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter and wellness clinic serving pet owners and rescues in an effort to keep pets healthy and reduce the homeless pet population. Located in the Grays Ferry section of the city, the Clinic serves pet owners who have difficulty affording or do not have access to basic veterinary care (sterilization, vaccinations, treatments for upper respiratory infections/parasites/fleas, etc.) and rescue organizations that need affordable spay/neuter surgery and basic veterinary care to carry out their lifesaving work. Support for PAWS funds lifesaving initiatives including adoption and foster care programs, spay/neuter surgeries, low-cost vaccinations, and other efforts, all of which help reduce and will ultimately eliminate the unnecessary killing of Philadelphia's animals. Donations to PAWS are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Meet Carrot—your loyal shoulder-dweller, armpit enthusiast, and professional cuddle connoisseur! This 4-year-old orange-and-white charmer isn’t shy about asking for love: He’ll stand tall on his back paws, wrap his front legs around you, and demand to be scooped up—then melt into your arms with his head nestled on your shoulder. Carrot isn’t just a lap cat—he’s a full-body snuggler! When he’s not claiming your armpits as his weirdly specific nap zone, he’s sprawled tummy-up on your chest. He’s a pro at making biscuits, though he’ll wiggle through 10 positions before settling like a lanky, purring starfish. Resilient and easygoing, Carrot bonds quickly with feline friends after a brief adjustment period. Picture gentle play-wrestling, synchronized zoomies, and cozy window-side naps with his future fur siblings. Affectionate without being clingy, this goofy snuggle acrobat is a living meme—a giant, purring, biscuit-making lovebug who turns ordinary days into comedy shows. Whether he’s meowing dramatically for cuddles, gazing up at you with his mismatched pupils (possibly a left over side effect from a old, healed eye ulcer, we dunno for sure!), or failing to pick a favorite human (you’re all his favorites), life with Carrot is never boring. Adoption fees are: Dogs: $150 Puppies (under 1 year): $200 Cats: $50 Kittens (under 6 months): $75 All adopted animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
