Only Maine Coons Rescue

OMC! (Only Maine Coons Rescue) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. We are a 100% volunteer-run/breed-specific rescue group that specializes in the Maine Coon Cat breed. We rescue Maine Coon Cat/Kitten mixes from shelters and unwanted situations. On occasion, we rescue purebred (PB) Maine Coon Cat/Kitten(s). This means that they have papers registering them as a purebred cat. In addition all of our cats are lovingly cared for in Foster homes until they are placed into their “furrever” homes.Although we cannot guarantee the percentage of Maine Coon in each cat that we rescue. Be assured that each “Coonie” cat represents the breed in a satisfactory manner. Please take a look at the Maine Coon cats in need of a “furrever” home by clicking on this link: Available Cats.In order to start the adoption process, please fill out an Adoption Application by clicking on this link Adoption Application. We are a close-knit group who all work together to make adoptions happen as quickly as possible, and to ensure a happy ending for the coonie and the new adopter.

Meet Tomato

Located in Roebling, NJ Meet Tomato – A Sweet, Mild-Mannered Purring Machine Ready for His Furever Home! Tomato is an affectionate and gentle cat who loves to purr. Once he gets a little attention, he’ll happily roll over and show off his belly for a scratch. He’s great with his feline housemates and enjoys socializing but also knows how to enjoy some peaceful time alone, especially in the cat tree by the window. While Tomato isn’t thrilled about being chased by the resident dog, he’s not easily frightened either—he simply prefers to keep his distance. The two occasionally have friendly, nose-to-nose exchanges, which shows his easygoing nature. Tomato is a fan of wet food and is a great drinker, always staying hydrated. Though he’s a bit hesitant about getting into the carrier, he doesn’t scratch or bite and travels calmly in the car. He’s also a champ at the vet, never fussing or getting upset. However, taking medicine isn’t his favorite activity, and he’ll retreat if offered. Having come from a rough past, including a spot on a kill list in Manhattan, Tomato is still adjusting, though he’s made great progress. He’s a little skittish and prefers gentle, back pets over head pets when greeting new people. He scurries at the entrance of the larger human dad but will make his way back into the common area once he feels safe. His soft, faintly chatty meow is sure to melt your heart. Tomato’s charming personality has earned him the affectionate nickname "Hot Potato" from his 3-year-old human housemate.

Adoption Process
An application is submitted to our organization. The application is assigned to adoption coordinator for processing. The adoption coordinator interviews and follows up on references. Then they write up an application summary, and post for the group to vote on. The group votes on the applicant’s adoption status. Once approved to adopt thru our organization, they may pick a cat/kitten to adopt. If approved by the foster parent the adoption process proceeds. Applicant submits adoption agreement and donation is made and then the adopter picks up or we deliver the cat/kitten. Adoption is complete.
