Sierra County Humane Society

We are a no-kill nonprofit animal rescue that houses companion animals on our grounds and in foster homes until we find them their forever homes. I have a masters in business administration and took over running the organization after our past Director passed away. I was a volunteer worker and animal care provider here for 2 years prior to joining the board and taking over running the organization.

Meet Inkspot

This cat is black beauty Inkspot! Inkspot has made huge strides in gaining confidence around her fellow human friends. She roams around comfortably while people are visiting and she even allows treats to be set right in front of her! Inkspot was found by a homeowner as a stray living outside on her property. The home owner gave her the name Inkspot and fed her for a few years while Inkspot stayed around her property. After a few years, the homeowner finally was able to get Inkspot into a trap and she brought her to Desert Haven for safety and love and care. Once at Desert Haven she got all the care she had been needing. Inkspot had to have surgery to amputate her tail due to a severe infection. She’s now feeling better than ever! Given the nature of the surgery Inkspot is now on nerve pain medication and will need treatment her entire life to ensure she’s living the most comfortable life possible. Inkspot lives at Desert Haven now and eventually may be ready to have the home she deserves. Let's cheer her on!

Adoption Process
We have a $75 adoption fee. We have an application for adoption, an adoption waiver, and a sterilization contract for any animal adopted prior to sterilization age. We do home visits and provide post adoption counseling to ensure successful adoptions.
