DOB: 7/15/2023 Just like a well-played game of checkers, Checkers is all about patience, careful moves, and thoughtful decisions. This shy boy may take some time to warm up, but once you build trust with him, he’ll be your loyal companion. He’s currently living in the Zen Den at the adoption center, where he can take things slow and find his inner peace. Checkers is a nervous guy, so he’ll need a patient human who understands that good things come to those who wait. With a little time, he’ll open up and show you his sweet, loving side—much like a well-calculated checkmate, his affection will be worth the wait. If you’re someone who enjoys the quiet, careful moves of a shy kitty and is ready to give Checkers the time he needs to feel at home, come meet him in the Zen Den. Could you be the human who helps him feel safe and loved? Come meet me at the cage-free Adoption Center! All cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for FIV/FeLV. **If interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process. Due to the large number of inquiries received, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.**
Adoption Process
We have an application that requires the potential adopter to wait until their application can be verified. Once everything checks out the adopter comes and picks up their new fur member of the family and signs a contract. One of the highlights of our contract states that if for ANY reason at ANY time they cannot care for the animal, they must return the cat or dog back to Colony Cats (& dogs). Our adoption fees are $100 for kittens (4 months and younger), $85 for kittens 5 or 6 months, $75 for adult cats, $50 for Wise Whiskers (7 years and older). We often have adoption specials where the adoption fees are lowered. The adoption fee includes the animals already being spayed/neutered, Feline Leukemia and FIV tested (cats), heartworm tested (dogs), all vaccinations (FVRCP and DHLPP), rabies vaccine (if kittens or puppies adopted are not old enough to have received a rabies vaccine, then the new owner will need to go to their vet to get this done), microchip, flea/tick/heartworm preventative.
