Second Chance Companions

We are an all-volunteer organization, started in 1993 dedicated to helping animals in SW Washington and the Portland Metro area. We have a small number of foster homes that take in dogs/cats (and sometimes other small animals) and no central facility, but we also work as a referral service for private owners who are looking for homes for their pets (we do the screening for them and also provide education to try to encourage them to keep their pets, when possible). We have a low-cost spay/neuter program for the public to try to try to curb pet overpopulation. We also work with our local Meals on Wheels program to provide pet food to Meals on Wheels recipients, individuals in assisted living and senior facilities, and area food banks. When we have the funds, we also provide emergency medical assistance to individuals.

Meet KH - Iggy

Hi, my name is Iggy. My human person is working and going to school, so she is gone a lot! She is really busy with all of that and she hasn't had the time for us, like she use to. She is working with SCC to help me and my brother, Vader a home where we can be together. We are very bonded. Ferguson is our other house brother (so, if you were wanting three of us - - wink, wink!) So, about me, I am about 11 years old and would like a less busy house. Sometimes when I get stressed, I have been known to pull out the fur on my belly. Stress can come from a trip to the vet, but seriously, who likes getting into a box and then a car ride to go get poked at by strangers. I would prefer to hang out with my people. I am known to be quite the lap cat. I do ok with kids of all ages, though the younger ones can be a bit noisy. But, if they can brush me, that would be great! I have always loved fresh water, so a fountain would be a nice addition to my new home. I have been known to sit at the edge of the tub or shower and try to drink. So far, I haven't fallen in. I have lived an indoor only life and that suits me fine. A perch by the window so I can watch the world go by - who could ask for anything more! I will be brought current on my FVRCP vaccine and microchipped as a part of the adoption process.
