Meet PEGASUS (FIV+/spayed!)

PEGASUS is a gentle and sweet brown tabby who arrived at the shelter in mid-May. She is listed as about three years of age. She was scheduled to go on a transport out of state to a nonprofit animal rescue group/Adoption center in October 2024. Unfortunately, they required cats to be combo tested, and she tested FIV+. This is not a death sentence. It is simply an auto immune disorder which makes cats more susceptible to infections. But like with all cats, you immediately have them treated by a veterinarian, and it does not have to be a major issue. As a result, though, she could not go on transport. Thanks to a partnership between UT and Cumberland County Animal Shelter, she was spayed on Monday October 21, 2024. As a result, she can go home the same day that she is adopted. She needs to be an indoor cat only because of her diagnosis. Although this is not easily transmitted between cats, do keep it in mind if you do have other cats. PEGASUS is a very sweet girl and definitely worth meeting in person. Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared! That includes taking an adult cat carrier with you in case you do decide to adopt PEGASUS. No animal should be allowed to run freely in any vehicle. Especially an animal that you have just adopted! Safety first!

Adoption Process
Adoption contract, Adoption fee of $50 per cat and $80 per dog set by county commission and subject to change, drivers license and cash or check only. The adoption fees currently cover most, but not all, of the spay/neuter cost incurred by the county.
