Meet PUNKIN (FIV+/neut.)
According to the previous owner who surrendered this cat in early August 2024, PUNKIN is great with kids, very sweet and calm. The cage card indicates an age of one and a half years and PUNKIN has a medium length fur coat that is black with a brown tint that is quite beautiful. Unfortunately, PUNKIN was scheduled to go on a transport out of state to an animal rescue group/adoption center in October 2024, but was combo tested for that purpose and found to be FIV+. It is not a full life-threatening disease. It is an autoimmune condition which simply means that animals may be more susceptible to infections. And like with any other cat, you simply take them to the veterinarian to be treated. Thanks to a partnership between UT and Cumberland County Animal Shelter, this fabulous male cat was neutered on Monday, October 21, 2024. As a result, he can go home the same day that he is adopted! His FIV+ status is not easily transmitted to other cats. However, do keep that in mind if you do have other cats and talk with your veterinarian, if you have any concerns. Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared! That includes taking an adult cat carrier with you to the adoption appointment in case you do decide to adopt PUNKIN. No animal should be allowed to run freely in any vehicle. Especially an animal that you have just adopted! Safety first!
Adoption Process
Adoption contract, Adoption fee of $50 per cat and $80 per dog set by county commission and subject to change, drivers license and cash or check only. The adoption fees currently cover most, but not all, of the spay/neuter cost incurred by the county.
