YesDimitri is a big, lovable, older black kitty. While he might look a bit stoic and serious, he is cuddly and affectionate guy deep down - but only when he decides it’s time! H e prefers slow, gentle introductions and feels more comfortable when he can approach people at his own pace. To earn Dimitri’s trust is quite special, and he’s a wonderful personality to know. This handsome midnight fellow might be 10 years old, but he is full of energy and still has a playful side too. While he hasn’t found a favorite toy to play with yet, he’s always ready to climb on anything he can find, whether it’s a cat tree or the highest perch in the room. Dimitri loves to be high up in general, and he’s an expert in finding cozy nap spots where he can relax and keep an eye on everything around him. He is definitely food-motivated aa well, and will meow to let you know when it’s mealtime. Dimitri has had positive interactions with adults and, once he’s comfortable, enjoys rubbing up against an outstretched hand to ask for pets. He can be a little shy around strangers and needs time to adjust to new people and environments. If he feels overwhelmed or crowded, he may pull away or get a little fussy, but with patience and respect for his space, he opens up and shows his sweet, playful side. Dimitri would do best in a calm, adult-only home with cat-savvy people who understand his need for space and slow introductions. He’s not a fan of other cats, particularly larger males, and would prefer to be the only cat in the home as well. He is on a special medication called Fluoxetine that he takes daily to manage anxious behavior, and that has helped him tremendously. While he might take a little time to settle in, once he trusts you, Dimitri is a loyal, affectionate companion with a big heart and a playful spirit. If you’re looking for a cat with personality and charm, Dimitri could be the perfect fit.
Adoption Process
We ask potential adopters to fill out an application, which we review. We prefer to have the name and contact information for a current or former veterinarian.
We typically deliver the adopted pet(s) to the adopter's home, at which time a contract is signed. We ask for a $100 adoption donation, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations, FIV and feline leukemia testing for cats, heartworm testing for dogs, and all veterinary records.
If for any reason an adoption does not work out, we take the animal back at any time during his or her life. Until the adopter and Thundering Paws decide together that the adoption is final, we will refund the adoption donation.
