Rockwall Animal Adoption Center

Legacy Humane Society was established in 2008 as a dog rescue organization run by volunteers and fosters. We take in dogs from EU lists and Owner Surrenders. We have them fully vetted and then we find them homes. We do home check and vet checks on all adopters. The city of Rockwall contracted with LHS in 2012 to take over managing their animals/adoptions. They will maintain animal control and we run their vetting and adoptions. We will screen apps completed at the shelter but we will not be able to due home checks based on staffing constraints. We have 14 employees and funding is done through the city and donations. In Jan 2017 the name of the facility was changed to Rockwall Adoption Center to more clearly divide both sister organizations purpose and services.

Meet T.C.

Hello. My name is T.C.! I am a 6 year old domestic short haired cat that is looking for my furever home. I was originally surrendered to the shelter as my owners were not able to continue to care for me. I am a very sweet and special boy! You see, I have wounds on one of my feet that have been treated but are still healing and will need to have pellet litter for my litter box until those are fully healed. I am also FIV positive, so my healing process is a little slower than the average feline. It's okay, I just need extra time to heal and will need a family that can properly care for me. Having FIV means I need to be the only feline in the home or in one that has other FIV positive cats. It also means, that I will need to be a strictly indoor cat for the rest of my life which is fine by me! I kind of like the comfy indoor life. Since I am considered a special needs my adoption fee is $30. I am neutered, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination, my FVRCP booster and FELV negative. For more information on FIV, please feel free to ask RAC staff or visit https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an online adoption application on our website athttps://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/
