Meet Moira, a special needs kitty with a big heart. She is a friendly, beautiful, and intelligent sweetheart who adores being a lap cat. She enjoys getting her fur brushed and receiving gentle head rubs. Moira is a bit more timid around other cats, and she is only just now beginning to tolerate their presence, but there is room for growth! She’s also learned to coexist peacefully with household technology, like the Roomba. Moira faces a unique set of challenges as she is incontinent, lacking any sensation or movement in her tail. She struggles with controlling her bladder and bowels, often leaving urine where she lays and occasionally dropping little fecal balls around. Despite these obstacles, she maintains her determination and resilience, unfazed by her condition. Her day-to-day life may involve some extra care, such as being picked up after, keeping an eye on her tail to prevent injuries, and addressing potential urinary tract infections. However, Moira is a perfectly functional cat in every other way. She's not bothered by pain and is eager for affection and socialization. To make her feel at home without creating a mess, a room with easy-to-clean sheet vinyl flooring and proximity to the household's activities is essential. She can coexist with other cats that are unfazed and also give her space, but she would also do fine as a singleton getting all the love and attention. Despite her unique needs and more timid nature around other cats, Moira is a remarkable cat with much love to give and receive, making her a valuable addition to any household willing to offer her the care and attention she deserves.
Adoption Process
We ask potential adopters to fill out an application, which we review. We prefer to have the name and contact information for a current or former veterinarian.
We typically deliver the adopted pet(s) to the adopter's home, at which time a contract is signed. We ask for a $100 adoption donation, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations, FIV and feline leukemia testing for cats, heartworm testing for dogs, and all veterinary records.
If for any reason an adoption does not work out, we take the animal back at any time during his or her life. Until the adopter and Thundering Paws decide together that the adoption is final, we will refund the adoption donation.
