Forgotten Felines of Culpeper

I have been rescuing for another group for 8 years, that group is in the process of dissolving. I am forming this group because there is a desperate need for it in this area. I believe that every cat deserves to have shelter from the elements, food, and humane care. I am hoping to lower the shelter's euthanasia rates, and help the community by taking in sick, orphaned, and abandoned cats through a network of foster homes, once expansion is necessary.

Meet GrayStray

Meet GrayStray, a name affectionately given to this sweet cat from the vet receptionist. GrayStray is estimated to be 5 - 7 years old and has a rough past. He was found on a Culpeper porch, emaciated and hungry, trying to get into a home during the sub-freezing temps in January. The Good Samaritan took pity on him, let him inside and contacted us.He was so thin, "emaciated" was the term our vet used. He was so happy to be loved and taken care of, that he was rolling around on his back for belly rubs on the exam table at the vet's office and was hard to examine due to all the happy squiggling.  After his original vet visit, he did not gain weight back, as a cat normally would, and he returned to the vet and it was discovered this sweet boy had many broken and infected teeth which caused him severe of pain. You would never have known it, as he was/is such a happy boy. A dental was arranged and GrayStray now has 2 teeth in his little mouth! No worries - he just eats canned food 2x a day and is perfectly healthy. Bloodwork confirms his great health. This boy is the biggest love bug you will ever meet and so full of personality. He lives in the cat playroom with a few other cat friends and when it is time to eat, he sees me through the french doors and jumps up and runs to the door. I open the door and he walks over to where his food bowls are. (He eats in the hallway so that he can eat at his own pace without the other cats scarfing it up.) GrayStray will eat some, then walk over to me and sit on my lap, then will go back to eat some more. When he is finished eating, he will patiently sit in front of the playroom door and wait for me to let him back in with his friends. He gets along easily and quickly with other cats and quickly acclimates to new situations. He was quite a hit at the PetSmart adoption event he attended - reaching out to people as they walked by, laying on his back - again, hoping for belly rubs! GrayStray would make a perfect companion cat. He is a good listener and when he is told "no" actually listens!GrayStray's perfect home would be a quiet, low activity home with a kind human(s) and either no children or children over the age of 12. He loves sitting atop the climber looking at the squirrels and birds outside. GrayStray is neutered, dewormed, vaccinated with FVRCP and Rabies vaccines, combo tested negative, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Please let us know if you are interested in loving this precious boy who has been through so much by filling out our digital application at:  https://submit.jotform.com/221029453063044
