Meet Benedict

Meet Benedict, a handsome male cat,2 1/2 years old. Benedict's name means blessed, lucky, fortuitous. He has had a hard life before coming to us. Benedict was adopted from the shelter as an older kitten, taken home, and immediately placed on the floor to meet the family dog. Things did not go well and he and the dog fought. (Please note, this is not the appropriate way to acclimate new pets, and was not either pets' fault.) This frustrated the adopter, and somehow the kitten ended up outside, in a wooded, rural area to fend for itself. He did not know how to find food for himself, stay warm, or stay safe. He was a kitten.Fast forward to present day ... the adopter wants to adopt another kitten and mentions that a cat has been coming in and out of the doggy door at night to eat and adopter is upset and "wants him gone." Per our request, cat is easily trapped and Forgotten Felines takes the cat into care. IT IS BENEDICT!!  For awhile this poor cat was left to fend for itself and unable to do so, his only choice was to sneak back into the house for food and warmth when the adopter was sleeping. Benedicts photos matched the photos the shelter had taken. Apparently Benedict has led a life of adventure as well. We were told by a local vet that, while on the run, Benedict would "break into houses" via the doggy door, eat the dog's food, "beat up the dog," and leave and were told he has a history of being an escape artist. Hey - deperate times call for desperate measures, right?  It is unclear if Benedict would get along with dogs of acclimated correctly, so we noted that he does not get along with dogs. Benedict is now safe, happy, warm, and well fed.Despite everything, Benedict is sweet and friendly and has a carefree, easy-going personality. He is a talker (he told us everything) and gets along easily with other cats. We are so happy he is with us and safe, but this poor boy deserves a REAL home - a loving home where he is cherished and appreciated. Can you help him out with that? Adoption Process
Once adoption application is approved and references checked, an adoption contract is signed. For all Shrinking Violets - not fully socialized cats - the adoption fee is $25. Requirements of adoption: may not declaw, if for any reason it doesn't work out the cat MUST come back to our organization. The cat's new, adoptive home must be an indoor only one in a quiet, low activity home, with older children. Must take to vet w/in 10 days.
