Allie

Rescue Ridge Dog Rescue of Alabama

I have always been a huge animal lover. I used to work for a pitbull rescue in Georgia as a kennel manager for a few years and I recently relocated to Alabama. Sadly, this county has a huge number of stray and abandoned animals and a lack of resources for rescue and veterinary care. There is no city or county animal control facilities to help the animals. There is one other rescue Randolph County Animal Shelter which is a private rescue that houses about 30 animals at a given time. With the support of my mother and sister I have the opportunity to start and run a fantastic rescue on our family property where I can do what I love and make a difference rescuing dogs and finding them forever loving homes! This small rural area really needs the help. The number of animals dumped on the roads here is horrible.

Meet Allie

Breed: Terrier mix is our best guess! Gender: Female Estimated Date of Birth:  2/12/2022 Size: 29 pounds Location: Wedowee, AL RESCUING ALLIE... Allie was dumped out of a pick-up truck when she was pregnant in a rural area of Alabama. A lady saw it happen on her house camera and she put Allie in her barn and on that freezing cold night in December 2023 Allie gave birth to 5 puppies.  Once the puppies got bigger the lady reached out to RRDR and we took Allie and her 5 puppies into our rescue in February 2024.  Two of the puppies didn't survive and the other 3 we adopted into wonderful homes.  Allie was not in the best shape and was very thin and scared but we knew she deserved a chance! ABOUT ALLIE... Allie is living in our rescue cottage amongst other dogs and is very well behaved.  She is timid around new people and will take a bit to warm up to a new family but don't let that shy you away from this gem.  She is absolutely hysterical, energetic, loves to play, will fetch a ball and bring it back to you and will also meticulously bury her favorite Egg & Cheese stuffy (hahaha!) in various places to hide it. She walks well on a leash and has a fenced in backyard currently.  She really enjoys getting out and running in the yard.  If you are a hiker, she would make a great pal!  She does great with her scheduled routine and is crate trained and housebroken.  She is not destructive and snuggling in her crate on her plush dog bed is one of her favorite things.  This pint sized beauty will steal your heart!  She would do best with a patient family and older kids that can give her the time to decompress and come around. She does well with other dogs and would do great with a male confident playful friendly dog that can help her feel comfortable.   ADOPTING ALLIE... Allie is spayed, current on all vaccines, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, microchipped and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative.  Her adoption fee is $200.00.  If you are interested in learning more about Allie and potentially adopting her please complete an adoption application at https://www.rescueridgealabama.org/general-4.  If you have any questions please email us at [email protected].  FOSTERING ALLIE... Allie would love to get the opportunity to live with a family that can foster her until her forever family is found.  If you are interested in fostering Allie please complete a Foster Application at https://www.rescueridgealabama.org/ways-to-help. If you have any questions please email us at [email protected]

Adoption Process
All adopters must complete a lengthy adoption application as well as sign an adoption contract. We require a phone interview, a meet and greet with dogs and a home visit with dogs. We also require all current animals be fixed, current on vaccines and on heartworm preventative which we confirm via a vet reference check. Our adoption fee is $250.00.
