While he’s been here in foster care he’s made some good strides. We can tell he wants the attention but he’s still just a little shy, but he has his tail up and wagging and gets along with all the other fosters in my care.  If you are willing to put in the work, he’ll make a beautiful pet for you. Bandit continues to do well in foster care.  He loves to horn in when other dogs are getting attention.  He's learning that it's wonderful to be petted and cuddled but at first, he'll be shy so the adopter will have to be patient until he understands you are his new owner. This boy really needs another young small dog to play with and he loves doing zoomies with other dogs or if you are outside in the yard while walking around the yard.  He will do best with a young family that can give him the exercise he needs not only with another young small dog but walks on a leash or just outdoor play time.  He does get a little protective of toys and loves playing with them.  Take a chance you won't be sorry with this boy if you are willing to put in the work. Our must haves for Bandit are: A fenced in yard Another young small dog that is well socialized so he can learn from them Someone with patience or breeder dog experience that understands it is going to take time A single-family home only is what he has to have Someone that could be home more than not If you meet all these requirements and want to adopt then please go to our website and apply online.   Bandit is a handsome guy so don’t wait.  ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.

Adoption Process
Our adoption process is documented on our website at: http://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/info/adoption We do check all references including vet and a home visit is conducted for each animal adoption unless the adopter has previously adopted and there have been no changes or large lapse of time.
