He was in bad shape, underweight by at least 2-3lbs, very thin coat and mats. But with some medicated baths, grooming and vetting he is on his way to being one handsome boy. Of course, you will have to finish the job with good food and love for him in the future. He is great with other dogs but cats he barks at. Of course, he lost all his teeth to poor dental care while in the care of his previous owner that probably passed away or went into a nursing home and the family just threw him away. He loves being with humans and will bark if he can’t be near you. Our must haves for him are: Fenced yard or enclosed patio/Lani Another small adult dog for him to hang with or can be an only dog if someone is home all the time Someone that is home a lot No apartments or high rises If you want to know more about this sweet boy just contact us we are happy to supply any info you want.     ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.

Adoption Process
Our adoption process is documented on our website at: http://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/info/adoption We do check all references including vet and a home visit is conducted for each animal adoption unless the adopter has previously adopted and there have been no changes or large lapse of time.
