Meet Dixie

Dixie arrived to the shelter as a stray; when she first arrived, she was very scared and shut down. After a couple days of getting to know Dixie, she began opening up and becoming the sweetest girl! Now, Dixie is super excited to see staff. She loves attention and being praised! Dixie may be a little shy when meeting new people for the first time but tends to warm up quickly, especially with words of encouragement. She loves to be called a good girl! Dixie has been on her best behavior in the shelter but is becoming a little stressed. She appears to be mostly potty trained and knows the cue `sit`. She walks well on a leash too but may need some encouragement when going into new environments. We do not know if Dixie has lived with other animals or children. We encourage adopters to bring their children with them when they come to meet her. Dixie has not been reactive towards other dogs and tends to light up when seeing the other dogs. She does raise her hackles when seeing other dogs initially but has always been friendly. We can always provide a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed! Dixie is a relatively mellow girl, but she will appreciate regular exercise. Please keep in mind that Dixie will need time to adapt to her new home. If you feel that your home would be a good fit for Dixie, we would love for you to meet her!
