Tucson Cold Wet Noses

Cold Wet Noses is a small group of individuals who take in the dogs that are going to be euthanized on any given day. We do this, when we can (when we have room for them), from local shelters.(we apologize we can only take in animals from the county shelter off of there rescue list) We bear all of the cost for spaying or neutering, micro-chipping, health care and shots . We're just a bunch of dog lovers who are trying to help as many furry souls as we can. The animals live with us so we know their personally and what would be the best fit for them. All of our Dogs and Cats our part of our family and we want that for them at your home. WE DO NOT ADOPT OUT DOGS TO HOMES THAT WANT TO KEEP THEM OUTSIDE ALL THE TIME THEY ARE NOT YARD DOGS. We love each and every foster and we want you to do so so as well. If they arent a good match in your home we insist that they come back to us until their perfect match is found. We truly believe that there is a perfect pet for a perfect home! Thank you for adopting a shelter dog from Tucson Cold Wet Noses.

Meet Ruffian

Ruffian Black short-hair Chihuahua mix Ruffian, or Ruff as we like to call him (or Ruff-Ruff) , is a sweet little spunky guy who is around 9 years old and weighs 9 lbs. He was found on the streets of central Phoenix and was saved from the euthanasia list. Ruff is a cute and funny little guy who gets along quite well with our two other small (6lb and 25 lb) doggies, and doesn’t bother our two resident cats much. He loves to roll around on the floor , play with toys, play with our 25 pound 2-year- old mutt Frida , and cuddle up with humans . He is well crate trained, being his preferred place to sl ee p, and will go to it whe n asked or when he wants a safe space . He’s quite happy going for walks around the neighborhood, is usually quick to do his doo-doo, and greets people and most other dogs nicely. He likes to stop and sniff/pee quite regularly , but doesn’t mind being p ulled along . When we take him for walks we never have to worry about him running away; he always stays with us. Ruff is very good about going outside to pee; I just open the door and let him out in our backyard . Ruff has an amazing athletic ability of jumping straight up in the air 2-3 feet when he gets excited about food or treats! I call him a litt l e J umping Jack! Ruff has some behavioral issues – growling and snapping when in his crate or when being approached or petted, or when trying to pick him up – but he has gotten over some of it with professional training, treats, and TLC. He still does not like being p icked up and gets growly at night time , but he might get over that as well with some work. Because of these behavior issues, he will not be available for adoption in homes with young children. Ruffian is up to date on vaccine s, microchipped , was neutered in 2024 and had dental work at the same time . His adoption fee is $275, with an additional $21 for PACC licensing. Ruffian  is adoptable to homes in Tucson, Marana, Oro Val ley, Sahuarita and Catalina . Fill out an adoption application at www.tucsoncoldwet noses.com to meet this sweet little black beauty!
