Meet Elvira
Meet darling 7-year-old Elvira. This sweet, brave, 17-pound girl walked herself into Banner’s Emergency Department on January 1 st . She and her doggy brother were abandoned in front of a local shelter after their owner passed. She walked across town looking for help and found it through Tucson Cold Wet Noses and a foster family. Her brother was found in another part of town and is with his new forever family. Elvira gets along well with our two big, friendly dogs as well as our dog-friendly cats. She loves her toys and when you say “toys” she runs around looking for them and gathers them to her bed. She gets the zoomies. Mostly though, she loves to cuddle up on a soft blanket in a chair and sleep – bonus points if her human is sitting next to her. She will often come and jump up right next to you and settle in if you were sitting down first. Speaking of sleep, Elvira loves to sleep on (or in!) the bed with her human at night. During the day she is often found sleeping on a blanket on a chair or on the numerous soft dog beds we have around our house – often right next to one of our other dogs. Elvira loves going for daily walks in the neighborhood. She keeps up very well with her 92-pound foster brother and is not reactive to other dogs we meet on the walk. She stops to sniff once in a while but is usually quite focused on getting in a good walk. Elvira is house-trained and has never had an accident. She is quite small so we go outside with her to look out for the wildlife around our home. Elvira is so cute that you will want to pick her up, but it is not her favorite thing. She won’t bite or anything, she just doesn’t like it. She likes to do everything on her own – jump into cars, run up steps, chase her foster dog brother around outside. Elvira is great with our teenage children. She is a little nervous so I am not sure how she would do around young children. She is careful when she meets new people but will warm up quickly. She barks to alert when people come over but then settles down. She does not like her feet to be touched. We are working on building confidence and trust. She knows ‘sit’ and ‘touch’ (her nose to my outstretched palm), but is working on the command “shake.” Elvira is looking for a place with humans who will be around a lot. She would be fine with or without other pets. All in all, she is calm and easy going. She loves to play, sleep, eat her food, and be with her people. Whoever falls in love with her is going to be super lucky. She wants to be loved and give love right back. Elvira is up to date on her vaccines, is spayed, microchipped, and recently had her teeth cleaned (two yucky ones had to be taken out) as well as her nails done. She has a clean bill of health. Her adoption fee is $275, with an additional $21 for PACC licensing. Elvira is adoptable to homes in Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita, and Catalina only.
