Adopt-A-Stray

We are a few dedicated individuals who have formed Adopt-A-Stray in order to save many adoptable pets that would otherwise be euthanized in the shelters in our area. We routinely pull dogs and cats from the euthanasia list, as well as take in strays and owner surrenders as space allows.

Meet Aries

11/22/24 Aries came to us as an owner surrender. His family was unable to keep him due to living arrangements. He is a good boy and is very friendly. He is a very high energy dog and needs a family who will provide him with a lot of exercise. He enjoys playing with other dogs and gets along very well with the other dogs in his foster home, with the exception of one intact male. The other males in the home are neutered and he does well with them, including a tiny 4 lb chihuahua who he plays with. He also plays with the larger dogs who are fixed. We are unsure if he doesn't get along with the one because of that dog not being neutered or if it is just a personality conflict. Aries was not yet neutered when he went to the foster, so with both of them being intact, that could have been the problem. We have had them both neutered now (just this week) and we are hoping they will do better once their hormones calm down. Aries is house trained and enjoys interacting with the pre school aged child in the home. He is very much a catahoula personality, with a need for exercise and stimulation. He can be stubborn, but he also loves big and is a lot of fun to be around. Aries is only about 8 months old. He weighs 46 lbs. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and heartworm negative. He is a good boy who would benefit from some training, but has the potential to be a great buddy. He would do great as an agility dog or just a hiking/running partner!
