Adopt-A-Stray

We are a few dedicated individuals who have formed Adopt-A-Stray in order to save many adoptable pets that would otherwise be euthanized in the shelters in our area. We routinely pull dogs and cats from the euthanasia list, as well as take in strays and owner surrenders as space allows.

Meet Fred *adoption pending

2/4/24 Fred and Ethel came into rescue back in November. They had wandered into someone's yard and were terrified. No one ever claimed them and we believe they were most likely dumped. It was getting cold out and with their tiny size, we knew we had to help them. Fred and Ethel are tiny at 4 and 5 lbs. They seem to be young adults, maybe 2-3 years old, and they are a bonded pair. They will need an understanding, patient adopter who can give them plenty of time to decompress. They have been in their foster home since Nov. and they still barely allow their foster mom to pick them up. They will come up and take treats, and when she is sitting down they will come get in her lap for loving, but they are scared of being picked up. However, once they get comfortable and feel safe, they are A+ snugglers! A quiet, adult only home would be ideal. Their foster does have grandkids who visit. The kids have not been able to handle them at all. Fred and Ethel aren't really aggressive to them, they just ignore them, but if a child tried to pick them up they might react. They are smart little babies who learned to use the dog door the 1st day. They will also use potty pads. In the right home, we believe they will open up more and gain confidence. I don't believe anyone had ever been kind to them before they were rescued, so they just need extra patience and understanding. They are both fully vetted.  Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations.
