STRAY - NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 2/8/2025: Vince - male - age TBD - weight TBD - Shih Tzu Reason for intake: We named him Vince. He was found on Thursday, 2/6/2025 at 7:30pm, by a homeowner near his home at Oriole and Horton in Shreveport. He was found in a wire kennel soiled with his own urine and feces. He was TERRIFIED. The finder was able to gain his trust enough to give him a bath and the following day he took him to UVH for scanning and no chip was located. The finder posted him on social media to try to find the owner but he was only getting messages from people who wanted the dog, not from someone claiming the dog as their own. He took the post down and contacted us for help. We will notify Caddo Parish Animal Services on Monday, 2/10/2025, when they reopen so stray hold can start. If no one comes forward, he will go to our vet for vetting on 2/18/2025. Stay tuned. (Note: he is still very terrified and scared so the stray hold will allow him to decompress at our facility.) NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Adoption Process
On-line adoption application required. If approved and at adoption we require adoption agreement, spay/neuter contract for puppies/kittens - adoption fees vary from $85 for felines and $150-$250 for dogs (varying depending on age, health, behavior, etc.) Adopters must have responsible dog-ownership history and stellar vet reference if applying to adopt a dog and vice versa for cats.
