Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Hanukkah

Adoption Fee: $550   Hanukkah is a 4 year old Italian Greyhound x Chihuahua  mix who can’t wait to celebrate the holiday with her forever family! Hanukkah was surrendered to one of our partner shelters with her 4 week old babies and we were asked to save them from growing up in a cold kennel. We scooped them up and brought them to one of our amazing foster homes who raised Mama and babies. Now that everyone is ready for adoption, our Mama is ready to find her dream home! Hanukkah weighs 5.5 pounds and is the perfect size for her forever people! Come celebrate with Hanukkah, she promises to shower you in lat-kes of love!      Hanukkah is an affectionate and loving little love who is ready to find her perfect forever family! This girl loves cuddling with her humans and is always ready to bask in all the cuddles and pets she can! She has a wonderfully calm and loving demeanor that makes her the perfect companion for someone looking for a devoted and adoring family member. She thrives in environments where she can be a calm companion. As long as she’s with her people, there isn’t anything that can stop our girl from living her best life! Her foster mom describes her as “gentle, nurturing, affectionate, and full of sweetness” which is a ringing endorsement of how amazing she is as a little pup! Hanukkah has been such a wonderful mama to her babies and we promised to find her the best forever home in the entire world so she can spend the rest of her life in comfort and luxury! She will bring so much joy and affection to her forever people, just in time for the holiday season!  Hanukkah begins her day around 7 AM with a refreshing morning walk followed by breakfast. She lounges for most of the morning until she’s ready for another midday stroll, giving her a chance to stretch her legs and explore. She loves playing with her puppies and their pile of toys during the afternoon, taking frequent breaks for naps under a warm blanket. She has dinner at 5 PM followed by cuddles on the couch and lots of belly rubs. She heads to bed around 10 PM in her pen.  Hanukkah has lived with dogs of all ages and sizes and adores them all. She is a people dog and would love making new human friends wherever she goes! We imagine Hanukkah would thrive in a variety of homes as she is super adaptable and ready for anything. This little lady is so ready to take on the world with her humans by her side and a song in her heart! Before you light the first candle, adopt Hanukkah and add her to the celebrations!       Hanukkah is an option for any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. Kids should be over the age of 7.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
