Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Ariella

Adoption Fee: $600    Ariella is a 5 year old Shih Tzu x Maltese mix ready to sing a song of love for her forever people! Ariella was rescued in South Korea by our amazing rescue partner before she made her trans-continental journey to sunny California! Ariella weighs 11 pounds and has a non-shedding coat that will require regular grooming. She is an option for homes with allergies or who just want less hair around the house. Our girl Ariella is fully blind but she doesn’t let a little thing like a lack of vision stop her from living her best life! Ready for the adventure of a lifetime with a fluffy best friend? Meet Ariella!      Ariella is a loving and amazing girl who will steal your heart as soon as she meets you! Despite her limited vision, she lives every day to the fullest, getting all the cuddles and snuggles she can. She is a velcro girl who is eager to be as close to her people as possible and would be an amazing companion for a human who works from home. Even with her less than amazing start to life, her trusting nature and fabulous personality blossomed from the minute she hopped out of her crate. She was ready to seize her second chance by the paws and that she did! She’s a lounging sort of dog, like any good Shih Tzu, but she loves her evening strolls with her people. She has an ever-growing pile of plush toys she keeps on her bed which is absolutely adorable! Ariella would thrive in a home ready to show her all the love she deserves. She would love to find a family who values quiet time and relaxation as she is ready to live her best years in style and comfort!   Ariella starts her day at 9 AM with a delicious breakfast followed by snuggle time next to her humans. She is a fabulous WFH buddy as she is content to snooze the morning and afternoon away on her cozy blanket alongside her foster sister. She loves her snacks and is always ready to take a trip to the kitchen (her favorite place). After the workday concludes, Ariella heads out on an evening walk with her foster people. She comes home for dinner at 7 PM and then gets cuddles on the couch for the rest of the evening. She goes into her gated pen around 11 PM and snoozes the night away.  Ariella lives with a dog around her size now and they coexist well. She does have some food insecurity so they are fed separately. She is a slow walker who loves to sniff, but she enjoys her walks and follows behind you dutifully. Ariella is mostly housetrained but could use some reminders from time to time. She does well on a schedule. Our favorite thing about Ariella is her fascination with the refrigerator. She can stand in the cool air for hours! Come and meet Ariella, we promise she will change your life!     Ariella is an option for any home, regardless of prior experience. Kids should be over the age of 12.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
