Meet Kady
** PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A COURTESY POST AND KADY IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. For more information on Kady please contact Sarah at [email protected] ** We are looking for some help placing a sweet girl with the perfect human! (We are in West Sacramento) Sweet 8 year old foster Lab/Great Pyrenees mix seeking single female human companion “Kady is a healthy 8 year old Pyrenees/ Labrador spayed female. She has enjoyed life as a daily companion to a single older female from the time she was a puppy. She spent her days on a horse farm part time, where she interacted with horses and cats- so knows the ropes in a rural setting. The other half of the time, she lived in the suburbs and enjoyed long daily walks and hikes with her owner, while at night she would curl up on the bed. Tragedy befell her in August when her owner suddenly became ill and died of acute onset myelogenous leukemia within just 45 short days. Kady has lived in a boarding kennel since then, but recently was moved into foster care while she looks for her new loving family. She is very personable and friendly, but has only ever known life with one owner. She is a very smart dog and walks well on a leash (she’s a big girl & can pull or get excited when she sees something she wants to go after so you need to pay attention while getting to know her mannerisms). She has not had health issues and currently is not on any medications. She is a bit overweight from sitting in a boarding kennel for several months, but some daily walks are helping correct that in short order. She is current on her vaccines and deworming and is ready for her new forever home. Can you be that person?” We had hoped our family would be a good fit for her as we receive y lost our 13+ year old fur baby. Unfortunately, she’s been telling us she needs a home closer to what she had with her previous owner. My husband is home all day but I work outside the home Sadly she will howl & bark inconsolably while I’m gone and has started to exhibit protective behaviors of me when I get home. She did great with a house-full of guests at thanksgiving but it’s very evident she gravitates to women & she would prefer not to share her human on a daily basis. (We think she may be hard of hearing ..either that or she has selective hearing like a two year old ). We know the perfect human companion is out there just waiting for her unconditional love ** PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A COURTESY POST AND KADY IS NOT AT THE SHELTER. For more information on Kady please contact Sarah at [email protected] **
Adoption Process
Adopters fill out a 2-page questionnaire, interview with a staff person, and pay the adoption fee. We are in the process of transitioning to "open adoptions" with few formalized requirements. The full adoption fees are approximately $160 for dogs and $110 for cats, but we have regular 'specials'.
