Meet Smokey

Smokey (A200833) - a 4-year-old charmer who's as big-hearted as he is big-bodied. Weighing in at a cool 80 pounds, he's not one to shy away from the spotlight. Smokey's the kind of dog who struts his stuff like a runway model, even during his short walks at the shelter. Smokey is a big boy at 79lbs.  He's a real people-pup, always up for some quality time with his handler, even if it means a little nudge for more cuddles. But don't bother offering him bacon - he's not into it. Nope, this cool cat prefers pets and attention over any kind of food, no matter how delicious. When it comes to walking, Smokey's a pro. He saunters in and out of his kennel like a boss, showing off his moves to anyone who's watching. He's not much of a social butterfly with other dogs, preferring to keep to himself and let them do their thing. And while he's been known to cry a little in his kennel, it's only because he's a bit of a softie. Don't worry, though - that kennel is always spotless, thanks to his tidy tendencies. In short, Smokey's the kind of dog who's sure to make you smile. He's easy-going, loving, and ready to give you all the attention you can handle. Just don't bother bringing any bacon around him - he's not interested. You can meet Smokey or any of our other shelter dogs on Fridays or Saturdays from 11AM-3PM for walk-ins. You can also schedule an appointment ahead of time and on other days via our adoption inquiry form at friendsofycas.org/dogs All adoptable dogs are viewable at friendsofycas.org/dogs

Adoption Process
Adopters fill out a 2-page questionnaire, interview with a staff person, and pay the adoption fee. We are in the process of transitioning to "open adoptions" with few formalized requirements. The full adoption fees are approximately $160 for dogs and $110 for cats, but we have regular 'specials'.
