Forte Animal Rescue

Our Mission:To inspire compassion and responsibility for animals, in addition to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for companion animals. Our Profile:Forte Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, seeking solutions for pet-overpopulation, as well as working together with the community to cultivate the human-animal bond through educational programs and activities. Our Objectives: After years of work in animal rescue, we established this unique organization in January 2003 to function as a "hub" for people and the rescue community in order to help each other. We believe this is necessary in helping the rescue community to achieve its common goals of saving the lives of as many animals as possible. Stop people from taking their animals to the pound through our Outreach Program by advising them of possible solutions, introducing them to appropriate trainers for their specific problems, or assisting them in finding new homes for their pets through our Adoption Program. Serve as a liaison between animals and the general public. Our new educational program will help improve pet-people relations and understanding of responsibilities. This is especially important because lack of such knowledge is one of the direct causes of abandonment of companion animals.

Meet Cruiser

I was cruising Crenshaw minding my own business when a couple with a cat spotted me alone. The man with the cat approached me and said hello. Being a friendly and easy-going kind of guy, I gave him a lick and a wag. We walked into a nearby clinic where I was immediately scanned for a microchip, and none was there. (Oh no!) Then I heard the comment that I wasn’t neutered. Of which I knew nothing about, because I was only 10 months old. Since it was closing time at the clinic, I went home with the cat people. Upon arrival at the new house, I was greeted with hissing and a few whacks on the nose. What’s a big furry guy to do with all those female cats. I’m learning that some cats don’t like me in their business and prefer me at a distance. I have the smacks to prove it. Currently we are all adjusting. We walk at least 2.5 miles in the morning and in the evening. I would love to be with an active, athletic family that will take me for long, long walks. If you are interested in meeting Cruiser, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at [email protected] or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Cruiser is 10 months old and weighs 46 lbs.] (2210)

Adoption Process
1. Volunteers at Forte Animal Rescue will work with you to identify your interests and needs in regards to a companion animal that would be suitable for your home. Our Adoption Questionnaire (PDF) for Dogs or Cats covers most of the issues which we have found relevant to helping you find your new companion and smooth the transition for both of you. 2. After reading your questionnaire, one of our volunteers may make suggestions as to which animals may be best suited to you and your lifestyle and make an arrangement for you to meet them at our Weekend Adoptions or in their foster homes to get to know each other. 3. If you fall in love on the spot, please make sure you have read the "Before You Adopt" section because this is a big, and important decision, not just for the human involved, but also for the companion animal. We can then proceed with the next stop of the adoption process which is commonly called the "Home Safety-Check" 4. An Adoption Fee is required along with a signed adoption agreement, which ensures that if, for any reason, you are unable to keep the animal, he/she is to be returned to Forte Animal Rescue only. 5. Finally, we personally deliver your new family member to your home.
