Meet *Opossum RABBIT
Meet Opossum Rabbit! Opossum is a 15 year 10 lb old Maltese mix that came to us from San Jose Animal Care Center He has lived quite a life making it to 15 and is looking for somewhere to lay his head for his final retirement. All he wants is to lay next to his person, relax and enjoy each other’s company. UPDATE 9/17/23: After six months in our program and a signficant and unexpected improvement in his condition after all the love and care he has received, he is no longer considered a hospice adoption. He takes thyroid meds and an OTC supplement but will be getting neutered, a dental and his cherry eye (cosmetic) repaired soon UPDATE 10/22/23 -- THIS HAS BEEN DONE NOW! This is what his foster mom says about him. “Similar to the name he was given “Opossum”, he is very slow and freezes up when something startles him. Which is just about everything. This could be due to his impaired vision or hearing. He will seek out your attention and look for you if you aren’t in his immediate sight. His ideal family would be one that prefers to hold him on your lap or allow him to lay next to you while you binge watch your favorite show. For the most part Opossum is very quiet unless he is in the kennel. He HATES being confined in a kennel. He does ride well in the car strapped in a harness. Opossum has had a few accidents in his foster home. But he is learning to go out the back door when he needs to do his business. He enjoys roaming in the backyard shaking all the smells. He will also use a potty pad if they are available. He’s ok on the leash but walks very very slow. He would LOVE a dog stroller to keep up with everyone else to enjoy the outdoors. Most of the time he spends his days sleeping in various beds. He’s not picky as long as there is an empty one close by. Toys or treats don’t impress him but snuggles do.” If you have the love to give this boy for the time he has left, send us an email at [email protected]. Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service. We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.
