Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Taffy

This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 1st from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $800   Taffy is a 2 year old Cocker Spaniel x Poodle mix who has a personality sweeter than candy! Taffy was rescued from the shelter after his former home decided they weren’t up to taking care of him anymore. His coat was very matted and we knew he needed a miracle. One trip to the groomer and a few baths later and he was feeling much more like his old self! Taffy weighs 13 pounds. Taffy has a non-shedding coat which will require regular grooming. He is an option for those with allergies.    Taffy is a sweet and loving gentleman looking for his human! He loves his people more than anything, even his treats. He would love a home where he can be with you for the rest of his life and show you all the love he has to offer! Taffy would be a fabulous WFH companion as he is great at relaxing when he needs to, but he is also thrilled when it’s time for a backyard romp. Taffy is great at matching the energy level of the household he is in. If you need a chill day, he is happy to jump up on the couch. If you are packing up for the beach, Taffy is grabbing the sunscreen! Taffy touches the hearts of everyone he meets, and is a truly special dog. He is super smart as well and we know his trick roaster will be full in no time. What more could you ask for?  Taffy wakes up around 7 AM and soaks up some bed cuddles before everyone is ready to start the day. He goes outside for a potty trip before heading inside for breakfast. Throughout the morning, Taffy hangs out with his foster family as they get started on the workday. He loves to be with his people (hello WFH buddy). Taffy goes outside and checks out his yard every few hours, going potty as needed. He gets a walk in the afternoon/evening depending on the weather. Taffy gets his evening meal at 6 PM and then spends a few hours romping around the house. After one last potty trip before bed, he curls up for the night to dream of treats.  Taffy lives with a resident dog and they love to play! He would be a great fit for any household. He adores kids and adults alike, especially those with treats. Taffy walks well on a leash and loves greeting his fellow neighbors. He would love a home where he can get in on all the action from day one!    Taffy is an option for just about any home, as long as they are prepared for the grooming requirements of the breed. Kids in the home should be over the age of 5.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
