Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Norman

This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 1st from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $800   Norman is a 2 year old Miniature Schnauzer x Poodle mix who has a fabulous beard and an even more fantastic personality! Norman was surrendered to the shelter for reasons unknown, but we do know that this fabulous boy didn’t let that get him down. After a long-awaited haircut which relieved him of his matted hair, he felt loads better and he looked like it too. Norman is a tiny dude, weighing only eight pounds, but don’t tell him that! Norman has a hypoallergenic coat which will require regular grooming. He is an option for those with allergies.    Norman is a happy go lucky gentleman looking for his soulmate! This dude doesn’t have an unfriendly bone in his body and was loving from minute one. He loves cuddles and would love to spend his days in your arms. He loves treats and he loves meeting new people. He loves sunbathing and he loves his toys. Honestly, we could go on for hours because we haven’t met anything Norman DOESN’T love. Norman is more of a lounger than a runner, but he will chase after toys you throw. He likes to hang out on the deck and observe the backyard for hours, with his ears blowing in the wind. He’s been on a weight gain journey, so combined with his intelligence, he gets all the treats he could ever hope for. Norman is such a doll and he charms everyone he meets. He is a catch and boy does he know it. Norman wakes up between 7-9 AM depending on the day and goes outside for play and potty. He comes inside for breakfast and chomps away happily. After he finished his meal, Norman heads back outside for a nap in the sunshine and some zoomies. He’s a man of many talents. Throughout the morning, Norman amuses himself with his toys, often bringing one to his foster mama for fetch. He gets a walk in the afternoon and happily sniffs around the block, stopping to smell the flowers often. He has dinner at 6 PM and then plays in the house with his foster sibling. In the evening, Norman gets some cuddles and kisses as the family unwinds from the day. He goes into his crate for bed.  Norman gets along fabulously with other dogs, both on and off the leash. He is still figuring out playing but he loves to watch. Norman walks well on a leash and knows to check in. He is almost fully potty trained. Norman would do well in a home with a family regardless of size. He has so much love to give and so many kisses to dole out.    Norman is an option for those with prior dog experience, even if less recent. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
