Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Gem: Emerald

Adoption Fee: $600 The Gem puppies are a litter of 10 week old Pug x Dachshund x Chihuahua mixes who were surrendered to our rescue due to an accidental litter. As evidenced by the different looks between the puppies, there might've been a few Dads to create these adorable puppies. These pups will stay small when they are fully grown and will be the perfect pint-sized companions to join your family!  The puppies wake up at 6 AM and go potty before having breakfast. They eat three times a day currently: 7 AM, 1 PM, and 6 PM. During the day they play in their indoor pen, nap, spend time outside in the sunshine, cuddle with us, and play with toys. They are such a goofy group of pups. Bedtime is at around 9 PM.  Emerald (F)  is Miss Independent when it comes to exploring new things, but then also Miss. “Wait Where Did Everyone Go” when she realizes nobody followed her and then comes running back for attention. She loves playing with her siblings and is known to flop over on her back and sleep with her legs all pointed up when she has tired herself out from playtime. Pearl (F) is the leader of the pack and loves to lead her brothers into their next adventure. She also has serious hops - maybe she is part kangaroo! Pearl has these little snuffle noises she makes when she is playing with her siblings that are absolutely adorable, even though she thinks she is being fierce!  The puppies are only an option for those who have owned a dog in the past 5 years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 6.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
