Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Finley

This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 1st from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered. Adoption Fee: $800   Finley is a 1 year old Cocker Spaniel x Poodle (Cockapoo) mix who is excited to fin-ley find his forever home! Finley was rescued from the shelter with a matted coat so overgrown we could barely see him underneath. We scooped him up and brought him to our groomer who worked her magic and then we got to meet Fin! This boy emerged from his hair cocoon giving kisses and he has never looked back! Finley is a smaller dude with adorable little stout legs. He has amazing ears that give a pop of personality to his fluffy body. Fin has a non shedding coat that will require regular grooming. He is an option for homes with allergies or who just want less hair around the house.    Finley is a sweet, loving gentleman who can’t wait to find his new best friend! This loyal boy would love nothing more than a human he can follow to the ends of the Earth. Heading to the garage to do laundry? Fin wants in! He is very much still in the puppy stage of life so he loves showing off his fabulous zoomies as he tosses his toys around the living room. Unlike some puppies, he isn’t constantly go go go, so as long as you give him a walk he is happy to chill by your side for the afternoon. He would love to check out the world though, and would be happy to lay out his towel on the beach and get his tan on. He loves to dig when he is allowed so he could even be instrumental in winning a sandcastle construction contest! The world is Finley’s oyster. Finley deserves the best and can’t wait to be the center of your world. He is very smart and has already learned a few tricks. Finley loves his toy bin and would love a home ready to shower him in stuffies and little tennis balls. This handsome boy deserves his throne!  Finley is a go with flow dog for his day to day routine and is very adaptable to any schedule. Currently, he starts his morning around 8 AM, emerging from his crate for pets and affection. Next, he goes outside to potty and then gets some playtime. Finley eats breakfast around 9 AM and then cuddles next to his foster parents as they get ready to start the workday. During the day, Finley chills on the couch, sniffs around the yard, chews on his toys, and rolls over for scratches. Fin gets a walk in the afternoon before he spends a few more hours playing and napping on repeat. He just loves life! Fin has dinner at 6 PM and then cuddles on the couch as he gets some more pets and love. Around 10 PM, he goes out for one last potty break before he goes to his crate, though he would love to hop up onto your bed as well. Finley cohabitates with a senior dog currently and they get along well. He would love a playmate, whether canine or human. Fin is working on his potty training and does well when he has access to the outdoors. He happily trots on a leash as he checks out the neighborhood on his walks. As he continues to build his confidence and socialization skills, he will blossom into a fabulous adult pup! This fin-tastic boy can’t wait to meet you and start his next chapter in your family!    Finley is an option for homes with prior dog experience. Interested homes should be ready to discuss grooming plans. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
