Meet Sound of Music: Kurt
This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, November 18th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $650 Sound of Music: Kurt is a 4 year old Maltese x Poodle mix who was rescued from a hoarding situation with his six siblings. These pups came to us with some of the worst matting we have seen in our 20+ years as a rescue but were all loving and patient as our volunteers worked to free them of their matted coats and past lives. Kurt has slowly but surely blossomed in his foster home as he has learned how to “dog” a bit more every day. He has a non-shedding coat which makes him an option for those with allergies, or who just want less hair around the house. He will require regular grooming and we will expect interested homes to have a plan for continued coat maintenance. Below is a note from Kurt’s foster. “Kurt would win the “Mr. Friendly” superlative if he was in high school! He is very social and has taken to greeting every human he meets with a wagging tail and a smile on his face. He LOVES cuddles and snuggles and has really grown as a temporary member of our family. When he first came to our house, he didn’t even want to wag his tail as everything was very new to him. Now he walks around the house like he has been here forever, wagging his tail and cautiously exploring. Kurt has not yet figured out the whole “toy” thing but we think he would love a pile of stuffed animals to sink into. Kurt wakes up in the morning around 7 AM and goes right outside to potty. After he comes back inside, he has breakfast and then spends his days hanging out near us while we work. He loves to follow our other dogs around and has gained a lot of confidence in their presence. Kurt is happy to run around the yard with you or relax next to you on the couch. He has gotten really good at using the doggy door when he needs to go to the bathroom. He ends his nights curled up on the bed with us and sleeps through until the morning. Kurt would do really well in a home with another confident dog who can continue showing him the ropes. He is still learning how to walk on a leash, but he is making great strides! It is hard to believe he came from a home where he had probably never even been outside before! Kurt is fully house-trained in our home and uses the doggy door as needed. Kurt is getting ready to “Climb Every Mountain” as he has gotten used to his new life and he can’t wait for his forever home to show him every adventure to come!” Kurt is an option for homes who have owned a dog in the past 3 years. We are ideally looking for a home with a current confident dog who Kurt can continue learning the ropes with. Interested homes should be prepared to discuss their plan for grooming. Children in the home should be over the age of 8.
Adoption Process
