Doggie Protective Services

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization based in So. CA who has established chapters outside of the area to attempt to place more of the dogs that are dying in the shelters in So. CA. Many areas do not have small breed dogs and we transport and meet with potential adopters because So. CA is deluged in small breed dogs.

Meet Shrek

This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, November 18th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption Fee: $1500   Shrek is a 3 year old French Bulldog who was rescued from the shelter after his former home decided they didn’t want to bring him on a move. Shrek is an absolutely gorgeous pup who turns countless heads on walks. This dude totally knows he is the talk of the town, as he should! We will be looking for a forever home for Shrek who is aware of the ins and outs of the Frenchie breed.    Below is a note on Shrek from his foster. “Shrek is an incredibly playful, affectionate, and loving pup. Once he got settled into daily life in our home, he showed us his love of cuddles and naps on our feet as we work at our desks. Shrek loves his toys and could romp around for hours at a time. No couch potato life for this happy dude but he loves his daily tanning sessions on our deck. Even Frenchies love to get their tan on! Shrek has also never met a stranger he didn’t immediately win over with his goofy charm and charisma. If you’re hoping a new dog will help you make new friends in the neighborhood, look no further than Shrek.   Shrek wakes up at 7 AM and goes outside for a potty break before coming inside for breakfast at 7:30 AM. He gets three short walks a day and spends his time sunning on the deck and playing with his toys as we work. He has dinner at around 6 PM and then cuddles and plays with us before he heads to bed for the night.  Shrek gets along well with all people he meets, both young and old. We have two cats, but they have not interacted much. He gets along very well with other dogs as long as they are prepared for Frenchie stubbornness. Shrek has shown himself as fully house trained and crate trained in our home.   We have loved our time with Shrek almost as much as he has loved his time with our toy bin! He brings us laughter, cuddles, and countless goofy antics every day and we know he will be an amazing companion to his forever home as well.”   Shrek is an option for those who have prior experience owning a dog. We will be looking for a home who can demonstrate their ability to care for the needs of a Frenchie. Children should be over the age of 7.

Adoption Process
We require an application from anyone who is interested in adopting. Then we require a phone interview, followed by a meeting in person. Then if the animal is a match, we have a contract and our adoption fee which is $400.
