Meet LUMI

Lumi is an active and very athletic adolescent who'll thrive in an active home where she gets daily mental and physical stimulation. She does get excited to see and interact with children so sturdy children may be a good fit -she's lived with children ages 8 and up previously. Lumi loves walks and would love to help you get your steps in - walking, jogging, or hiking. She rides well in the car, so she's game for hiking and beach adventures near and far! At the Shelter, Lumi has been friendly and curious, and enjoys playing with other active young dogs – playbowing and pawing at them. Lumi WILL jump 6 foot fences to go out exploring, so she's not a `leave out in the yard` kind of dog, especially when newly adopted. Lumi will need to be safely indoors, on leash or supervised if spending time outdoors. Engaging in force-free training on recall would be a great way for the guardians to bond with Lumi as well as develop some skills for Luna to practice coming back to them in cases of emergency. Now through February 15th, you can “Adopt Your Valentine” with adoption fees reduced to $50. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchips. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
