Meet Prancer
This dog will be at a meet and greet event on Saturday, January 7th unless he/she is adopted prior to the event with a set up home. The event is from 12 pm to 3 pm at Palo Alto's Pet Food Express. Those interested in meeting the dog can come out to our meet and greet event. We no longer do application approval onsite. Anyone adopting has been previously approved and set up to meet prior to the event. Adoption fee: $500 *Prancer and Rudolph are available to adopt as a bonded pair! One adoption fee covers both dogs if they are adopted together! Prancer is a 8 month old Chi-Italian Greyhound mix who we rescued from a hoarding situation along with 18 of his buddies. He has been fostered with Rudolph. Having lived with dogs his entire life, Prancer takes comfort in being with another dog, and he and Rudolph are best buddies. While they would be a great option for someone looking to adopt a pair, they are also both options to join another dog in the home and would likely do best with a doggie companion. Here is the report from their foster! When Prancer and Rudolph first arrived at our house they were scared, shy and reserved. It took us awhile to gain their trust but slowly they warmed to us and their playful personalities started to shine. Rudolph is a big time cuddler/snuggler and loves to sit snuggled next to us on the couch in the evening. Prancer is shy and likes to be petted but not as big a snuggler as Rudolph. Loud noises still scare them and they are still quite shy when meeting other people. They are becoming more relaxed around myself and my husband but occasionally still growl when we first come into the house if we have been out. When we approach them slowly, they relax and are at ease. They took to my husband almost immediately. It has taken longer for them to warm to me. It will take time for them to warm to a person/people but with love and patience they will come around. They are energetic in the afternoons…and play chase in the backyard and are playful with one another. They really are good boys. They both get on really well together, they play together and snuggle up next to each other and keep each other company. Prancer is more curious about things but is initially more shy and timid than Rudolph. Both dogs sleep in their crates at night. First thing in the morning they go outside to the backyard for potty time. They have some food and water and spend a good bit of the morning and afternoon in the backyard playing and enjoying the sunshine. They are mostly potty trained at this point and only have occasional accidents. Rudolph likes to be on your lap. They love being in the couch snuggling next to us and getting belly rubs. Leash training is a work in progress. They had clearly never been on leash before coming to us and are startled by noises and traffic, so we mostly just practice in the backyard. They are good boys and are learning to sit and follow direction. They are quick to adapt. The outside world is a bit more of a challenge and the leash walking will take time but I have no doubt with some love and patience they will adapt. It has been wonderful to see their personalities take shape more and more each day. They are great company full of love and cuddles … and they are best buddies I think they would thrive in an environment were they could be together. Rudolph and Prancer are both only options for a home with dog experience, and preferably shy dog experience. They are an option for kids over the age of 10.
