Meet Cambria

Cambria – Black Female, 8 months old, 55lbs Hello world, meet Cambria! She’s as pretty as the town she was named after, wouldn’t you say? Sadly, her story is not very pretty. A LRRF volunteer saw an advertisement in the newspaper from a local Bakersfield puppy mill breeder offering her for free due to her eye infections. Poor Cambria spent her life living in a waste-covered 5’x10’ kennel with no human contact or affection. She was understandably terrified, and it took her some time to decompress and adjust to life as a LRRF dog. Cambria has received treatment for bacterial eye infections that were caused by the filth she was living in and has come so far in such a short period of time. She is now a happy and fun-loving pup and she is ready to find a special forever family to love forever! When Cambria first arrived at her foster home, the normal sights and sounds of indoor life were super scary to her – dishwashers, vacuums, car rides, toys - it was all so new to her! But with lots of love and patience from her foster mom, Cambria has blossomed. She is no longer terrified at everything and is becoming a little social butterfly. She has learned the routines of indoor life and now knows how to use a doggie door, play, and she is working hard on her leash skills and using a bowl (it is apparent her food was just thrown on the floor of her cage in her past life – how awful!). Cambria is now an affectionate, silly, happy-go-lucky little lady, who loves to play with a squeaky toy and cuddle up for a nap after a romp in the yard! Her devoted foster mom feels she is ready to find her forever family and begin the life she should have had all along! Cambria is a smaller Labrador and while she may get a bit bigger, she will likely always be on the smaller side for a Labrador. She loves the companionship of her canine foster brothers and would be best in a home with at least one other dog. She is feline-curious, but not prey-driven, and may do well with a dog-savvy cat. She loves to splash around in a wading pool, chew her nyla-bones, and is learning how to play fetch! Like all puppy mill survivors, Cambria will need a patient family who will continue to help her adjust to life as a house dog. She is still learning to eat from a bowl, walk on a leash, and sometimes she gets scared of loud noises and passing through new doorways. Cambria will thrive with a loving and supportive family, providing them with a lifetime of love and devotion. Like all puppies, Cambria can be a 15+ year commitment and will need a family who will take her to training classes to help her continue to improve her self-confidence and learn the skills to ensure a lifetime of good behavior. If you have room in your heart and home for this very special little survivor, please apply to adopt Cambria at www.labrescurefresno.org!   If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped.
